could anyone confirm these are all boys? I bought four and ended up with four boys but the guy said he had %75 ratio of girls I can get more chicks from him this week but it’s like an hour half away but I’ve been wanting one again for a while should I take the chance again and 2 months of painstaking raising chicks to possibly be Roos I can’t keep? Could he be vent sexing these at day one? I just thought that was crazy I got all boys. I hatched 3 eggs of two breeds and ended up with 2 girls! I guess my lucks ran out?

Not sure on age I forget but I believe I got them around first week of March

Looks like I might be in the same boat. Out of 4, looks like 2 are male. I called the place and they were pretty confident on the sex being female. Roosters are generally returned and out of 800 on the last hatch, no returns. Absolutely crazy. Not supposed to have roosters here either, but a few nrighbors got them. I can't see myself giving them up and I am now not sure I want to take the chance and get more boys.

But they are handsome! Vent sexing chicks is tricky, and the folks who do it well TRAIN for a long time! With only four, you lost the lottery, but it's short odds with so few. May you have better success with the next group!

At least two of yours are girls! Lol good for you!
I was going for at least two to be girls. Where did you get yours from? I bought mine from a local breeder. When I looked online they looked like the breed had been sold out for a long time. I used to have a EE that looked just like the Wheaton amerucana and laid pretty blue eggs but I left my coop door open one night by accident and found her carcus in the corner of my yard in the AM. I was so upset. I couldn’t look at chicken meat for a long time!

Thank you! That makes me feel better about trusting him. I have maybe moderate level of knowledge with chickens but only with few certain breeds. It’s always nice to have help and opinions from others who know more!

I got mine at Tractor Supply where they don't sell males

Mine came from Cackle last year, and they are very nice! We just got an order including some French Marans, again from Cackle; a 'suprise' group of pullets. Black copper, black, wheaton, and cuckoo.
Try Cackle, maybe they still have some.

The stores around here only ever offer Easter Eggers (mislabeled as "Americanas") and they're straight run. If you got two males out of 4, you probably got straight run. But, you can order sexed females (or males) or straight run from TSC online in groups of 10. They ship from the hatchery.

It sounds like they are attempting to sex chicks by soft signs. Markings, relative leg size, swooping a hat over the top, etc. They may claim whatever % accuracy they like but I'd expect 50/50. Unfortunately, 50/50 doesn't translate to small batches. You could ask about getting started pullets. Breeders often have birds of various ages as culling is an ongoing process.
