I don't come here very often mainly for 2 reasons: the first being that once I get started, hours can easily just slip away :) LOL. The 2nd, is that I wasn't sure how to find my way back to my post to see if there were any replies. I think I have it figured out now:)

It has been hot and humid of late and I have a wheezing rooster. There are so many different things that could be causing it that I don't know where to start. My first choice is to take him to the vet but, funds are very tight right now. My next thought is to separate him and give him vitamins in his water. How would I begin to know if it is pneumonia, a respiratory infection or something else? How would I go about knowing what meds to give him?

He is a frizzled, bantam cochin with lots of personality and attitude. He takes very good care of his girls. I hate to separate them. Would it be a good idea to treat all of them at the same time?

Thank you for any advice you might have!!!!

alot of people use apple cider vinegar in the water so I would do that. Make sure that you bring him in and keep him away from anything dusty like his bedding. Start him on some vitamins, a small mix of cooked brown rice and steamed garlic. Garlic is good for anything bacterial and worms. Also if you can go to a nearby vitamin / natural food store where they sell supplements. I would feed your babe- by mouth- elderberry syrup with a syringe , about 1ml dose 2xs a day. This will combat anything viral... Elderberry is also good for humans when you know you are getting sick. It would not hurt to feed steamed broccoli carrots and other veggies if you do not have the vitamins, the better the nutrition the healthier the babe. Good luck

How much vinegar in the water? I have the same kind of rooster with the same problem! Thanks

DId your rooster make it? I have one (same kind exactly) that we found wheezing and really sick yesterday. I am doing the brown rice/garlic diet and a c vinegar in the water and the elderberry syrup. He is pitiful!
