O.K. my elderly RIR hen has been wheezing slightly for about two days. I brought her in the house last night and she is resting comfortably in the "hospital" cage. Her weight is good (heavy), her eyes are not bubbling like I've read in other posts, and there is no discharge from her nasal passages. She is eating and her poop looks normal. Am I being a nervous nellie? I've lost 2 hens lately, one of which was my favorite, Precious, and I'm probably being paranoid but I hate losing chickens! I'm so paranoid that last week, I thought Katherine Hepburn's crop (bantam red cochin hen) felt really hard so of course I go right to impacted crop, I brought her in and in the morning she was fine and has been ever since! I have wood shavings DLM and the shavings I've been getting lately are really crappy, almost like sawdust from TSC. I'm thinking maybe just dust??
