Hey everyone. I need help with my Maple. She's an almost 2 year old easter egger. I was taking the dogs out this morning and I heard this weird noise from the coop so I went to investigate and Maple was wheezing and breathing hard. She was perfectly fine yesterday. It doesn't sound like MG or illnesses like that. I've dealt with that in the past with birds in quarentine. This seems a lot more like asthma. I had it as a kid and it seems exactly the same. She is overweight also. There was one other time that this happened with her but it was nowhere near this intense. It only lasted about a day last time and it was after she had a panic attack from hearing a gun shot and the other chickens started chasing her everywhere. She didn't get treatment last time, just time to calm down. She's in the house with me now, calming down but still wheezing. I found a video on YouTube. She sounds just like this (not my video though). Any thoughts, please. Can a chicken be predisposed to asthma?

My go-to is Vet Rx. You put it in the water, and you can put it on their heads and under their wings when they sleep. It's a food quality Vicks.

I really need to invest in some of that. May be running to the local feed store this morning for feed. I need to see if they have any.

I bought my Vet Rx from TSC.

that's probably where we'll go if they don't have it. TSC is further from our house so it'll be second choice. She seems to have relaxed a bit but still wheezing. She seems to want to eat but since she's mouth breathing it's tough. She's getting some down though. I put a shot of ACV in it too so hopefully that helps

Maybe @Eggcessive can comment.
