Hi guys,
My chicks are about 3 weeks old and out in their coop. How old should they be to de worm them? I have DE in the coop and I have started adding it to their feed a bit will that replace the de worming meds? If not what dewormer is the safest? Are chicks like puppies that you have to worm them at certain ages? Should I have a bowl full of DE for them?
Also is there anything else I should to for them to be healthy?
They are eating medicated starter made by kent. And they are eating greens and have had watermelon, banana and some bugs.

Thanks

There are varying opinions and several products. You will need to research this and make your own choices. Some never worm their chickens. Some worm them once or twice a year.

It is claimed that DE in the food (a cup or two mixed in 50 lbs.) will control worms though not treat a serious infestation. Don't give them a bowl of DE. If they bother it at all, they will just inhale the dust, which is not good.
