When are Easter Egger Chicks available and how do they do in winter?

Thanks guys! I've found several different places that have them available. I've also been checking kijiji and craigslist. I think I sort of want them to imprint on me though.

watch what you ask for... i'm currently sitting here with my chicks in a cage because if they can't see me i think everyone within a mile knows it....
this is my first hatch, my others ahve been from the feed store, so hatchery chicks... OMG.... they are driving me nuts... i just 20 minutes ago said next hatch i'm letting them see the dog first... lol....

most of my chickens are EE, these particular chicks are EE roo with Leghorn mom... not sure yet what color eggs they will lay... i have one EE laying a terracotta colored egg every day... w/ a skip every once in a while.. and one EE laying a gorgeous almsot olive green egg on about the same schedule.. they take turns taking the day off though.. first one, then the other.... my leghorn hasn't missed but 1 day since she started laying 2 months ago... still waiting for the other 4 EE to decide they want to play the egg game too...

as far as availability.. when you're ready if you can't find a hatcherie with chicks or eggs i'm sure there's someone here willing to sell some eggs...

good luck with the move and your EE quest...

I'm going to be getting them in a few months. I'm just taking in all the info I can find to make sure I'm all prepared when I do get them. I bet yours will be all feathered by then. Do you know how long it takes for a newly hatched chick to become feathered?

Also Evonne, that's a good point about the chicks. I'm usually at home but I surely don't want 8 little chicks screaming and following me around.

Mine are one month old and have about 1/2 the big girl feathers. They look really funny but are hanging out outside during the day and not getting cold... They look like adolescent boys- all gangly and goofy looking.
