Chickenfolk,

I was wondering: If all my baby bantams grow up and turn out to be roosters, will they all get along? Or will I have to keep them all separate? If so, will they get lonely living alone but within eyesight of one another?

Thanks!

Usually if roosters grow up together, they are fine with eachother until they are introduced to hens. Roosters will want the hens for themselves and will fight for them.

At one time I had a large flock of semi feral bantams. The roosters all had their heirarchy and there were very few problems. UNTIL the autumn rains arrived. When the roosters (especially that years cockerels) got wet it appears that they no longer 'recognized' one another. At that point the pecking order underwent a massive upheaval and rooster wars ensued. This was pretty much an annual occurrence.

Just my experience.

We had several months of multiple bantum roosters in same flock, all brooder mates. They did remarkeably well together. They were not as high on hierarchy as my large fowl boys, but held their own and we didn't have a lot of bantum fighting. I was surprised given the reputation. However, we didn't keep them past a year, the large fowl behavior towards my family was unacceptable, so the boys were rehomed and such.

Thanks for the awesome info because I was also wondering about this! I have 4 baby bantams. Two easter eggers, one golden laced cochin and one I'm just not sure of yet. It's either a black old english or a sebright!
