When can chickens first show signs of broodiness/laying eggs?

My chicks are only 3 months old. Today I noticed my Light Brahma had made a hole in the bedding inside the hen house and was sitting in the middle of it. She was sitting in a way that made me think she was thinking about laying an egg or going broody. She had her tail up. She did get up eventually and go about her business outside of the hen house. Isn't this too young for this behavior?

I would guess that she was dust bathing rather than being broody, especially since she left the "nest." Mine make dust bath holes all over the coop, in the litter.

Yeah, I don't think so. She does that outside the hen house outside with the others. She just looked different this time.
