I have 3 five week old turkeys. When will it be ok for me to merge them with my adult Tom, his 2 turkey hens and our teenage turkey that is 6 months old. They are getting so big!

THANKS!

thinking about the same thing here. Not sure how TOMTOM is going to take it, hope someone who knows chimes in!

When we put the younger ones in it's usually the hens that rough them up not the toms. We don't put ours together until about 5 months. You can do it sooner but we have the covered pen space for raising the little ones. The thing with putting them out to early is if they get wet from an afternoon rain storm for example you stand a good chance of loosing them.

Well, the only thing I know is that "Turkeylett" my 6 month old has lived outside for 2 months now and is doing ok. I do get the afternoon rain too. We have 1 area that has a roof and roosts that they can get too. Now it did take a little time and you are right the turkey hens were rougher than Tom. Now they all get along great!

We have a 4 year old bronze, a 3 month old bronze, and 2 1 1/2 month old WBB's

We put the WBB outside when they were about 4 weeks old, never had any problems

I introduced my 4 calico poults at 8 weeks old. But they are free ranged so at first the adult turkeys didnt bother with them but after awhile they became a flock.

Our 5-6 week olds were caught in rain away from proper shelter the other day. By the time that we got them and mother under cover they were wet and cold. One died two days later and I spent the day beating myself for being so stupid. Poults are delicate and it takes time - more than I thought.
