When can I expect eggs?

Hello and welcome to BYC!

You should start to see eggs within the next 2 months sometime. Combs, wattles and faces will get really red, the girls will squat for you when you lean over them.

You can use food dye on the heads or paint a toe nail with polish. Make sure to use a dark color they won't be attracted too.

Hi, as @pennyJo1960 and @TwoCrows said, I'd use a dab of nail polish on their nails (nothing bright colored). Maybe it will be easier to tell them apart with more time spent with the flock...seems there are always little differences. Thanks for joining us!

Welcome to BYC. I use food color on the tail feathers. By the time they have their first molt, you'll notice subtle differences and be able to tell them apart. Don't use bright red or pink; thats like a peck magnet to the other pullets.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! My hubby is an electrician so has these cute little zip strips in 3-4 colors I've used a time or two. They are 4" and I'm sure you can buy those. You just have to make sure to check them often or as appropriate depending on the age.

I like the fingernail polish idea and would do that instead, but these have black toes/toenails, so for me, it would need to be a brighter/deeper color, and I'm afraid they'd get pecked as any color would stand out besides maybe brown.
