When Can My Chicks Go outside?

Discussion in 'Raising Baby Chicks' started by zookeepersgirl, Apr 19, 2016.

  1. [IMG]I have 19 chicks that are 9 weeks old and 10 chicks that are 7 weeks old. When is it safe to have them join my adult flock of 12 chickens? I am not concerned about the temperature, but just that they will be able to hold their own against the adults.

As long as you provide some sort of oasis that they can get in and the big chickens can't, they'll be fine.

When they're about the same size as the adult hens...4+ months IIRC...

There's also a ton of threads on here about integrating flocks...I'd read up on it so you don't wind up with any dead birds!
