When can my duckling go swimming? (please read thread(

This probably sounds like I’m crazy or I can’t make a decision but I decided to play it safe and I didn’t let him swim. You’re right, I just feel so bad that he hasn’t been swimming but I guess it’s better to play it safe than risk infection. Just wondered if anyone else had the same situation. Thank you for all your help! :)
I agree with you both. Since it had a rough hatch and still has a scab on it's belly, I think it would be best not to let it swim until it's healed. We long as there is a scab there there is the chance that bacteria could enter the abdominal cavity.

Let’s see if OP can post a pic. She is the only one who knows for sure it’s its completely healed.
Unfortunately it’s impossible to get a pic, it literally looks like a pinhole though if I had to describe it. Such a shame as I can’t keep water in his brooder until I know for sure he can’t get infected. It’s an awkward situation. But you are right, after careful consideration and reading everyone’s comments it is best to be safe than sorry :)

Make something like this except smaller in size if you want that way he can't get into it and won't get soaked.
Sounds like he is healing good hopefully by end of week hl be swimming up a storm.

That’s a brilliant idea! I’ll definitely do this. Thank you so much for all your help. I’m sorry if I was a bit indecisive and annoying, I was just so torn about what to do. Let’s hope he’ll be swimming by the end of the week :fl

You are not either. Your very caring and only want the best for your duckling. You are wise to be careful after all he has been through. Give him a mirror in his brooder so he can see himself that will keep him occupied they love to look at themselves.
