When can you sex turkeys, really be able to sex hens from their racing strip and toms but ...

Okay, I am having a devil of a time this year sexing our turkeys, not sure why or because I am just not believing what I am seeing. Our guys are still pretty young, 3 - 5 months of age, but, I think that I can usually sex them pretty well by that age. By 5 months, would toms be strutting, at least occasionally? When do hens get their racing strip down their head and neck? Based on what I am seeing, no one is strutting, usually even our little, little toms will start doing that sometimes within a couple of weeks of age and I see a lot of racing strips. I am thinking that we have 2 little toms and 6 - 7 hens. I usually don't get those kinds of hatches.

Thank you for the information, but having a novel of a thread totally defeats the purpose of a forum, though, if folks would actually post a title that would make sense that would help too.

You could also post some pics here and we might be able to help you out a lot of us are pretty good at identifying the sexes
