Can anyone tell if my chicks are delaware. They are about 4 1/2 weeks. I have one that has black starting between its wings and one black wing feather. One or two of the others have a little black starting. Not sure if boys or girls. My other two pic will not upload.
Pip's Chicks: I ordered from Ideal & my 2 Delawares were sexed. I know they don't sex bantams, but they do sex their Delawares. Maybe they don't sex later in the year? Weird.
Generally, most boys will have a bright red comb before 10 weeks old. Also, saddle feathers and hackles begin showing themselves by 10 to 12 weeks. If your first 2 don't have red combs or shiny, thin feathers near the base of their tails, they are girls. If any of your younger group has a bright red comb, that would be a boy.
