When checking eggs you are cooking....

And then you could have this and be pretty glad you cracked the egg into another bowl first!

I do it because eggs can be freakshows.
Just because the outside looks fine it does not mean the inside is.
It really is a tiny bit of extra work, but it beats possibly putting a mystery chunk in my recipe.:)

Good morning Chickesan, you gave me a good laugh with my morning coffee, while sitting at the table watching my girls run around my front yard. Like is good, get mor chicks to keep it that way.

should you find a blood spot in in the egg and not wish to use it yourself, scramble it and throw it back in the chicken yard......
the girls will consider it a treat and the protine is good for them.

Well i'm glad I gave you a chuckle!
What I say is true though, once you've messed up and cracked an awful egg in your bowl or even worse hot pan, you really, really strive to turn that mistake into a lesson.;)

My in-laws always crack eggs in a clear glass before cooking them.... But other than a blood spot, I have no idea what I am looking for that would make an egg unable to eat.....Is it necessary to examine every egg?
I do the same. Want to be sure there’s not a spoiled egg in the mix, because I don’t wash them and they sit on my kitchen counter.
I am looking to see if they are fertile. It seems to be hit or miss so far.
Why, don’t you eat fertilized eggs? It’s not an issue for us.

Yes i eat fertilized eggs! We have hens that go broody a lot and I want to know if our eggs are consistently fertile so I can give them some to hatch. But our rooster is young, and as far as I can tell only a couple hens allow him to mate with them and even their eggs don't always have the fertile 'bullseye.'
