I usually wait until the males start fighting. They will. They are (loveable) idiots. Usually, there are a couple males that are just personality plus, and they are my keepers. (Hopefully, they aren't the ones that turn into murderous jerks.) Also, some of them mature later than others. The jumbo whites are very slow to mature, but they lay for a long time. I had a wonderful male who lived almost 6 years. He didn't mature until almost 12 weeks old. (His name was Dweebie, because he was such an awkward Dweeb. I cried when he died.)
