Our 2 Black Australorp and 2 NH Red hens are just over 5 months now. Still nothing in the pen but poop

The neighbor who got one of each of ours says they've been laying for weeks. We're feeling cheated

You still could have at least a month to Waite. Most hatchery/feed store birds start laying around 20 weeks. are your neighbors birds the same age? It is possible though.
Good luck,

Good luck,

That's the weird thing! We raised the 6 from 2 weeks old (overflow we bought from someone who ordered too many chicks). At about 3.5 months, we gave one of each to the neighbors, planning on hatching more for ourselves and needing room. I can't figure out if maybe the neighbor is confusing the other two hens she has laying with those two, but she said they were laying. So strange.
