when did your chickens start laying?

when did your chickens start laying, what breed are they, and how many eggs do they lay a week, and what color are the eggs?

just curious. I've 6 16 week old chickens 1 polish, 1 EE, 1 GLW, 1 SLW, and 2 BRs and I was wondering how many eggs i'd be getting and how soon. thanks!

6 RIR's; 3 are laying, 2 started at 22weeks, the other just started yesterday at 25weeks (3 not laying yet are 21weeks). I've been getting 2/day, 3 yesterday...... The eggs are beautiful, no problems. First one was double yoker!

my earliest was an EE at 19 weeks 6 days. My last were my Buff Orpingtons at about 23-24 weeks. I have EEs, BOs, and Cuckoo Marans. The other EEs and Marans all started laying between 20 and 24 weeks.

Some started off with a bang... 6 eggs in the fist seven days from at least one of my girls. Others more slowly... one every two-three days. The first few weeks, we had days with egg counts of one, two, or three eggs. Slowly we worked toward 5, 6, 7 egg days. We had 11 pullets. A couple of weeks ago, two died during an extreme heatwave and so now we have 9. Now that they are almost 27 weeks, we're getting usually 6-8 eggs per day from our 9 pullets. The eggs are now starting to weigh around 2 ounces as well, which is the same size as a "grade A Large" egg from the store. Until this week, they had been smaller - 1.25 -1.75 ounces.

Good luck with yours! You'll probably have eggs in the next 3-5 weeks, but maybe a little longer depending on your birds. It's so much fun to get those first eggs!

3 started at 18wks one was a WL and the other two where brown so they could have been BR, CM, RIR, or BAs eggs everyone else started in the following weeks.

My EE's started laying first and they were 17 weeks old and then my Silver lace wyandottes started laying at 19 weeks and then my RiR started laying at 20 weeks...There are now 23 weeks old and my Black Aussies and Buff Orp still havent laid.

The EE's lay 5 eggs a week...SLW lay 5 to 6 eggs a week and the RIR lays 6 days a week also.

The upper right brown egg is from my SLW, the center egg is from my RIE and the other 5 are from my EE girls.

my GSL started at 24 weeks. She lays everyday. She laid for 16 days, took a break and now has been going at it for like 10 days now. Her first egg was dark brown with speckles, then they were light brown/pinkish. Now one half is dark and speckled, and the other half is light brown/pinkish. Nice combo

One of my BR's started at 19 weeks, one month ago today.....out of 14 hens I am now getting 10 eggs a day.
