I have an Indian Runner that is 16 weeks old. The last couple days she's been jumpy when I touch her nether regions, and I can palpate what feels like an egg that's not quite far enough to pop out. I do have experience with palpating rabbit pregnancies (with obvious differences), so I'm pretty confident with that. I'm just concerned because of her age and her behavior.
Is it too soon to be laying, or could she be an early layer? She seems to get quite fussy for several minutes, but then settles down for long periods. I just don't want her first egg to cause any problems. I think the age is right, but what should I watch for?
