when do bobwhites start to lay?

You will need at least 12-14 hrs of sunlight until you have that if you want them to lay you will have to supplement the lighting my bobs will lay in spite of the cold my coturnix are kina picky much below 40 and they slow down a lot

I dont have any myself. I meant when is laying season for bobs? I'm wanting to purchase fertile eggs and am wondering when that might be possible.

no way...

we've had bob whites for months now and i haven't seen an egg... should i supplement light for them..?

Mine Have Been Laying At A Slower Rate For A Month Now... So The Rest Of The Country Should Start Kicking In Here Soon. Bobs Need 14 Hrs Of Full Spectrum Or Blue Spectrum Light And Warmer Temps Before They Lay.

Absolutely correct. While you may get the occasional odd eggs anytime, for consistent, fertile eggs you need long days and heat. I believe you could induce them to lay with lights and heat, I don't do it, but I think they use flourescent lights.

I Get Eggs In The Winter If I Suppliment With Light... But They Are Much Less In Number And Fertility Is Often Lacking... Bobs Are Definately Hot Weather Birds. You Can Stimulate Laying With Controlled Environment... But Often Times Fertility Will Be Lacking With This As Well. Best Way Is Nature's Way, Do All Your Spring Chores And Busy Yourself With Little Trivial Tasks--- Wont Be Long And Ma Nature Will Wale 'em Up
