Nature-Themed Hatch-Along

Pics
Oop, I'm PRETTY sure one chick pipped on the wrong end. 🤔 It's the other Gold Sebright. I'm not sure WHEN it pipped, but I think within the last 6 hours for sure. The pip is at the VERY tip of the pointy end. I especially don't want to open the incubator again so soon with one actively zipping and one freshly pipped since the humidity's stable again and the hatchers are doing well. :fl Going to let it get to 24 hours before I step in, but hopefully it'll go just fine on its own!

Well, now that doesn't make sense. I was pretty sure the egg said "RP" but it must've been the barred rock egg that just hatched. :gig Because that is not a red phoenix baby! Looks fairly dark with a white underbelly and a white spot on the head, from what I can see through the goop. 🤭 I will do a good job next time of getting everyone sorted, ahaha!

@newchickychick What is the humidity running at? If they are starting to all stick it's a low humidity thing.
There's been no sticking yet, save the one that was because of the other's stuff drying around the shell when the other one hatched. :(

Humidity has reliably been 65-70 though during hatching periods, sometimes up to 75 when some are actively hatching!

Ok, you are good then! 😊

Ah man, the second sebright did not make it. ;^; I got it out within a second with no humidity drop because it was close. The bottom wasn't a hole so I was thinking maybe it'll still hatch. Candled, no movement for 2 minutes. So I did an eggtopsy, and it did indeed pass away. It had very extreme crossbeak (top and bottom both completely opposite ways, and VERY far), and although everything was absorbed, it didn't internally pip. I wonder if it passed away because it couldn't properly peck its way out? Is there any way I could have noticed this pre-lockdown or during hatching at all to have known to intervene? I'm not sure how long it's been dead, but I assume not terribly long. Argh. I feel so bad!

The barred rock bantam most definitely looks like a male. So cute! Manifesting the others hatch tomorrow, but the pipped baby would bring us to 17/24 so. 🤞 that the other ones make it outside of the one poor cross beak GS that passed. I’m wondering if my hygrometer/thermometers just aren’t registering the heat right and it’s hotter than it should be? The humidity is showing accurately but with the past shrink wraps, I’m definitely thinking of erring on the closer side of a little bit extra humidity vs less to see if that helps too next time. Really quite happy so many are doing so well in this batch though. The half we moved to the incubator are getting along swimmingly with their new friends. 🥰 Tomato is among the group still in the incubator, and is running about happily now! So energetic.
