I'm getting ducks for the first time next year and am going purchase some Khaki Campbells. I might want to try vent sexing just to see how it goes for me, but I'm wondering how early the male's "drake" or "sex" feathers appear which can easily determine the sex of the duck. Thanks in advance.

Around 4 months
If you want to know sooner, try voice sexing. The girls will quack and the boys will still peep at around 3 months
Don't do vent sexing unless you are show how by a pro
You don't want to injure them

Khakis are great layers, good luck

Thanks a lot! I knew that ducks and drakes sounded different when grown up, but didn't realize you could sex them like that. Interesting, thanks.

Your welcome
Just let me reiterate, don't do the vent sexing with out someone who knows exactly what they are doing
I don't even have the guts to do it, I just cringe when I thing of bending those lil things backwards...all I can think of is breakin their spine ...ugh
Anyway have fun with em, I love my khakis

haha Thanks. I've had someone show me how to do it before, and once or twice myself, but without much success. I've tried wing sexing, which is fairly accurate, but only if they are a day old.
