Have 12 easter egger hens. All of them 24 weeks of age. When do they typically begin to lay? One of them seems to be in the laying boxes acting as if she wants to lay the last few days but nothing thus far. Her comb is one of the most red. Ive posted on here tons of times and everyone says they all are pullets which is what i was told when i bought them. None are making crowing sounds which i assume they would be at this point if males. So why no eggs yet. Is this normal?

In my limited experience one pullet can start laying weeks apart from another, even when they are then same species and same age.

I have 2 EE's, and they are about 26 weeks of age. One has been laying a light olive green egg for about 4 weeks. The other just laid her first egg this week, and it is a light blue!

So hang in there, hopefully you will get some eggs soon!

Mine are about to turn 5 months old and the roo just started to do his business with them. The hens don't seem interested in him though, but I guess its time for me to start building them some nest boxes.

Do your gals free range at all? My EE girls are huge turds and lay in the woods at the edge of yard, in the cat house, under the deck and in the duck's house. They pretty much lay everywhere but the nesting box in the coop.
I found the first nest behind the wood pile with five blue eggs in it. It's like an Easter egg hunt every day!

They say 6 to 8 months for ee, mine have a rooster though, that jump starts them earlier so mine started laying at 4 months on the dot
