When do female muscovies get caruncles?

Yes, they are both kept inside. I let them co.e out on the back porch with me when im working outside. But since i haven't clipped their wings yet i dont let the go off the porch.

Seriously, before speedy rescued me, i thought the red stuff meant there was something wrong with them.

Lol, there are some Muscovies at a pond near my house and before I knew what they were, they were "ugly ducks". I still don't think they are all that pretty, but I will be getting some when I get the farm up and going.

Since having speedy and fancy, i think my definition of ugly has changed... they are sooo loving and loyalled, fiercely protective of me too lol. Speedy hates hates when i sit or lay on the floor to work on something she gets down their with me, keeping guard and pecking me to get me to hurry up and get up.
