I've got a couple of gold laced Orpington hens, one is 6 months old, and the other is 7 months old. Neither one has started to lay yet. Is this normal for the breed?

Based upon age, it is about time. Individual performance varies. If it is approaching winter where you are, the decreasing length of daylight works against you in the production of eggs.

Thank you, I was beginning to wonder, Ive only had American type Orps and they start laying a lot younger.
