When do golden pheasants start laying in KY?

We purchased two pair of red golden pheasants about 3 weeks ago. They seem to be doing fine in their new home. Each pair is in their own pen of 12’ x 12’.
My son is quite excited about raising a few red Golden’s this year. The males have their full coloring. Does anybody know when we should expect the hens to start laying?
I raised ornamental pheasants about 30 years ago, but I can’t remember when laying season started for them.

Thanks,
Sam

Howdy Sam, and Welcome to BYC. I can't tell you for sure when your birds will start laying, depends on the location, weather and condition of the birds. Usually they will start laying in mid to late April or early May.

I'm in South Texas and my True pheasants started laying 2 weeks ago, my Goldens and Amherst haven't started yet but the males have been displaying since early December.

Good luck with your birds, hope you get a good hatch.
