When do I buy hatching hens for broody hen?

When is it safe to buy hatching eggs for a broody hen? If she's known to go broody, should I order it before she goes broody? Or the day she goes broody? Will she sit longer than 21 days if the eggs come later?

I wouldn't order them until you know she is broody for sure.

We have a broody Banty who has been sitting on a non-fertile egg for about 5 days now while awaiting eggs from Ebay. They arrived today and she took them in readily. Hoping everything goes smoothly!

I agree that you should wait til you know she's broody before ordering eggs.
