Offer chick grit now.
My chicks have been on grit since 2 days old. Their mother takes them outside daily and they've been eating whatever she tells them to.
Love the Easter Eggers!
You can offer chick sized grit any time, but they don't actually need it until they start eating anything besides their chick starter.
I offer it when mine go to the coop section for chicks, because they start catching bugs, and get stuff in the litter and greens from the yard. They are about three weeks old then, or a bit younger.
If you start offering goodies sooner, get the grit to them sooner.
Mary
I mix it in their Start and Grow feed at 2 weeks old. At a ratio of 40 to 1, (by weight) Feed to Chick Grit, for my day old Chicks raised indoors in a Brooder.
(2 ounces Grit, 5 lbs Feed) (10 ounces Grit, 25 lbs Feed). I use my kitchen scale to weigh the Grit.
At 7 weeks I offer Poultry Grit in a separate container..
I scatter it around the edges of their coop brooder space, and they check it out and eat some. I keep more out there until they are free ranging with the big guys, at five to seven weeks of age. By then they are picking stones off the ground too.
