When do mallards start to lay?

When do mallards start to lay? How early?

im not a mallard expert but most ducks will lay their first spring but mallards may be different because they are wild

my mallards are 6ish months old, and one hen has started laying now

she's layed in total 6 eggs so far

A lot depends on where you live and the temperatures.

I have mallards..One is 9 months and other 1 1/2 years they both have been laying every day for about a month now and it is cold here..Wasnt expecting them to lay until Spring, had the boy mallard since they were little just got the girls 2 months ago..They have not seemed to want to sit on them and it has been so cold..they freeze and crack before I can even get to them! Hopefully this Spring they will make a nest and give me babies!!
