when do marans start to lay

We have what we think is a cuckko maran, it is from this years hatch. It is quite old now and we wondered when it should start laying? Ive heard that they are late developers, is this mirrored in their egg laying?

If it was hatched this spring it probably won't start laying until this fall.

I have one started laying at 17 weeks.

I've never had a Marans start that early!

In that case... mine should start laying about Christmas time, LOL... if they like the cold dark Michigan weather!!!
