I'm sure many of us newbies are in the same boat here--we bought our first batch of chicks this spring when the farmstores were selling them and now we are anxiously awaiting our first eggs.

As for me, my oldest are 16 weeks now. At what age do Rhide Island Reds and New Hampshire Reds begin to lay?

Most RIRs begin at 6 months or 24 weeks. Although I've had some begin as early as 5 months or 20 weeks.
