When do roosters start crowing?

mine have been crowing for maybe 3-4 weeks now (they're 13 weeks old). I've got a cornish cross, mottled houdan and polish rooster.

I have 2 RIR...about 16-17 wks old. Suppose to be pullets, but the one has a very red comb and waddle. The other one doesn't as yet. Just wondering if one of my girls is guy. Haven't heard any crowing.

You have any pictures? This is my first year with chickens and so far the only ones that have been obvious roosters to me are the crested ones that crow. Someone said leg length (roosters being more lanky) is another way to tell. Mine seem to also have droopy/long tail feathers that form an arc, v. stick straight out like some of the hens.

My three -- yes, count them, three - New Hampshire Reds started crowing at about 13-14 weeks, here's a pix of one of them. By the way, I had posted pictures of two of them a couple of weeks earlier and most of the BYC'ers had them pegged right on - roosters! Of course, I was in total denial (couldn't happen to me!), until of course they started to, well, crow. So, Michelle become Mitch, he went to a farm about 20 miles away, and I'm left with Hecliff (formerly Michelle) and Mr. Doodle, formerly Martha (I decided Martin wasn't a good name for a roo). This one is Hecliff.

BYC'ers rock for sexing these late bloomers, I would say that 85% of those who weighed in were right-on.

Downloaded pics...Still trying to figure out how to get these pics on my message.

Ruffian, here are step by step instructions for posting pictures:
Log in if you are not already logged in.
Top menu, go to Uploads
In the box under File, hit Browse, then find your picture on your hard drive in whatever folder it is. You might want to move it onto your desktop for easy finding before you start this process. If you can, get your picture down to less than 100 kb or so before you begin this process.
Click Submit.
Your pix will appear in a few seconds and below there will be a URL Link called Thumb. It will look like:

[[[[[begin code (these are my words only, you code will begin with: url=https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/34265_forfp09hecliff.jpg]
34265_forfp09hecliff.jpg
[/url]]]]]]

Simply click on it, and this is what you want to copy and paste into your forum message.

hope this helps.
