when do they start and when do they stop? laying eggs i mean?

i just bought 5 week old splash marans. and thinking of getting some white rock hens. they said 5 each but if they are 2 yrs old is that worth it? i wont eat them but i do want regular eggs.... so give me the 411 please. thanks!

fair price, 2 years old is good, they usually lay until 4 or 5 but with good life can lay longer

$5 for adult laying hens is a good price. Down here you're lucky to get away with $10 but usually they want $15. So yeah, eat up on the $5 hens.
