generally after 20 weeks of age, varieties bred specifically for superb (and early) egg laying may start as young as 18 weeks, varieties bred for other characteristics may take longer to mature and not start laying until 6 months or older

Around 18 weeks, start watching them. When their combs turn bright red, when they start squatting when you go to pet them or pick them up, when they start getting really interested in the nesting boxes, they are turning into Young Ladies and laying is imminent.

I got my girls the last Friday of June, which makes them six months old this week. The first of the flock (the Light Brahma) started laying yesterday!!!!

Maybe this means that the other four (Orpington, Barred Rock, Wynadotte, and NH Red) will soon follow?
