I have a couple in my young flock that I am pretty sure are cockerels. They are 14 weeks old and I haven't heard a single strangled noise out of them yet. Is it possible that I actually managed to pick only pullets when I was trying to get a cockerel in there, or do Wyandottes just start late?

so did you end up with cockerals or not?
I'm sure the one you got from me is a boy.
mine start crowing about 12-16 weeks.

Bonfire, my boy from you, is a cockerel but has yet to crow. I think it's his mortal fear of my older SLW roo Thunder that keeps him quiet.

The other one that turned out to be a cockerel is one of the SP crew. He's completely blind so I don't think he even knows how to be a chicken, let alone a roo. He hangs out with his 3 blind hens (2 are also SP Wyandottes, one a colombian Wyandotte, all from the same shipment). His hens have light pink combs and little pink waddles. They don't lay, nor do I think they ever will. They just hang out in the chicken house where they know how to get to the food and water. They have all learned to get along together with the sighted birds so I let them be.
