We have about 9 left now and wondering when i should butcher them up - they are about 10 weeks now - big fat and lazy still making them walk for food and water (i space them as far as possible) temp here is 27+ c here during the day - I was thinking within the next couple of weeks - hubby thinks not for a couple more months yet.

Are you talking about Cornish X or White Rocks? We started butchering our Cornish X at about 9 weeks of age and finished when they were 12 weeks. We did a few at a time as we had time. The smallest dressed out a 8 1/2 pounds and the largest ones that we weighed dressed out at 13 1/2 pounds. That is oven ready weight. There may have been some bigger. We didn't weigh them all. If you have Whiite Rocks you can wait. If you have Cornish X a lot of them will be dead of natural causes in another two months.

If you're talking about regular, Cornish X broilers, eight weeks is standard. If you wait a couple of months, you probably won't have anything left to butcher, as they will die. Butcher them ASAP.

cornish rock giants - and they will be all done on july 10 so that makes them 11 weeks heres hoping none drop before then lol
