When do you candle the eggs??

Just wondering at what points throughout the incubation process that you candle...

Personally I candle on day 10 and then again on lockdown.

It varies upon person, really. I usually candle on day 6-7, then on day 14, then right before lockdown. Sometimes I candle more than that though.

Some people just do it on day 10, then before lockdown.

With my silkies I candle around day 4, and then again at day 10.

i never ever candle , theres no reason to i always wonder why people need to know , ive never had one explode my thoughts are playing around with the opening and closeing the lid every 7 days will only hert the egg , i think its more trouble than its worth but ,,,,, that being said , if your incubating marans eggs from good sellers the eggs are so round and dark you cant tell were the air pocket is so if u lay it down in the incubator for 6 days or so the air pocket becomes more pronounced and easy to see a week into the incubation in order to know pointy end down air sac up , so my thoughts are do your hatch a favor and bite your nails twiddleee your thumbs do sopmething to take up time doing something else , but dont candle because you can know for sure in 22 days ( i never count the first day )
