When do you first hear the chicks 'peeping' before the hatch?

so should i check and open the bator to candle??? My humidity is at 65 and not to steady~ was up to 71 and i just don't want to open it up!

I have mine in egg cartons so I don't see them rolling around. I keep staring at them and don't see any movement. Even the ones that have pipped (2 so far out of 20) I haven't seen move yet. My neck is starting to hurt from leaning over

No don't open it. You will lose all your humidity. My last hatch I only had one that hatched and that was the end of day 22. I never heard a thing til it started pipping. I would wait a couple more days.

Same thing happened to me.. and hopefully by tommorow (day 23) at least 1 or 2 more will hatch!!!

My broody silkie is sitting on two eggs. Today is the start of day 18. When I picked up the eggs to candle for the last time, I could hear peeping coming from both eggs!
