Thanks for the kind words. I don't have ducks anymore as the entire 'Lower 40' is on a hill so finding a place for a good pool isn't worth the effort IMO. I'm hoping I get a good variety in egg colors,that's one of the main reasons I'm getting Americanas this time, instead of more Australorps. That and the friendliness. Of the Aussies I have now I got a flighty hen and rooster that I think may be a black Australorp (all were bought from a mixed box straight run), a nice hen and one very mean rooster which I'm trying to find someone to - *ahem* - 'dress' for the table.That sounds nice, I would be interested in hearing the names you give them. We only have 5 chickens, which were sold as RIR, but are really Production Reds, but love them. All their eggs are the same color so that would be a problem naming them. lol This is the first time we have ever had chickens and we are really enjoying them ... so entertaining, and eggs are very nice. I never knew there were so many different kinds of chickens until I joined BYC. Guess with Americana's the eggs are all different colors, which would be pretty. Yesterday we got a miniature egg from one of ours and it was really a shock.
