When do you put chicks outside?

It depends for me on weather but usually 6 weeks

It's always weather related and also if your outdoor brooder is setup properly, that's if you have one.

Mine go out usually at 4 day olds.

Depends on the weather and how many chicks I have. Usually 1-3 weeks old.

I usually have them be able to have some time outside ever since they're day olds but It depends on the weather. I have a little $50 coop and run that I have them live once they're 5-6 weeks old, until they are old enough to brave the grown up chickens pecking order.

Ya I breed them for 4 to 6 weeks inside and then I moved them to their grow out coop till they are 20 weeks or big enough to be with the adults. My adults can be kind of brutal LOL

That's basically exactly what I do! do you brood them inside your house?!?

Day one. Start integrating at 4 wks (door from brooder pen opend) by 6-8 wks there all sleeping together with big chickens.


door from brooder to layers is 4”x4”, chicks can run thru to hide back in there room but big girls cant get to them.

Depends if I use a hen or I incubate. I have only incubated once and they were outside in the shed with a brooder plate when they started to smell lol. When I’m using a broody hen I allow the hen access outdoors from her separate coop into a run so she can decide whether she wants the chicks outside.
