When do you separate the mother hen from her nine baby chicks?

Its not your choice to decide. its the moms. I have herd of moms staying with their young until the following spring. i have also herd of mother kicking them out at 3 weeks. Let the momma decide.

I have a 5 month old Brahma chick, with big feathered feet still staying close to mom who is sitting on live eggs due to hatch end of month. Will the chick be a problem for the babies, like stepping on them, etc? Thank you for your help.
