I have another question. when do you start with the oyster shells. I have 9 weeks old chickens. 6 hens and 2 roosters. I assume it is ok for the roosters to eat it.

oyster shell is for the calcium the hens need for making egg shells
so the chicks really don't need any oyster shell till they lay eggs
your chicken feed has some calcium included in the mix for the bones makings of the chicks till they lay eggs

and the roosters will only eat it if they so desire and will not hurt them either

so you are good to go now
the only additive is granite grit that they will need if they eat whole or cracked grains at any time

any questions email me
