I had my dad get me feed since he works right next to a feed store, and I told him medicated starter and of course he come back with a huge bag of non medicated starter feed because the guy at the feed store said I no longer need medicated. The chicks turned 4 weeks old today, so I'm wondering if I should return the feed or if its safe to switch. I'm also wondering if its ok to still be on starter feed, I heard they stay on starter until they're 8 weeks old.

I never used it at all and mine are fine. Chicks are 3.5 weeks and very healthy, no losses. I don't intend to use it in the future either unless there is a sick bird, then it can have medicated by itself. So you can switch their feed to non-medicated.

Their should be instructions on the feed for when to switch. My Nutrena Starter/Grower has them on it for 16 weeks.
