My chicks were hatched in the beginning of May. It looks like 7 of 8 are laying now, and the last one is close. Right now I'm getting between 5-7 eggs daily. I thought as the daylight decreases I should see a drop in egg production? I need to start selling eggs as my fridge is filling up at an alarming rate. I guess chicken math got the better of me.
Some breeds especially in their first year will lay through the winter even without supplemental lighting. These same birds next year after a molt may take a break.
