She will be laying any day now. Make sure you are checking the run and hen house on the floor. They don't always make it to the nest the first couple of times

We have 4 constant laying hens and a new layer she laid out of the nesting boxes the first time learned to check other places with her.

Haha one of my polish hens didn't figure out the nesting box for about 3 weeks. I watched her one day run around in a panic and an egg fall out... dumb

My RIR is not fluffy and she is about a year and a half. There was a dog attack and her tail feathers have not grown back in yet but here's a picture of her. Just her rump is fluffy and I think she didn't get fluffy back there until almost a year oldView attachment 1118869

After her attack did you inject some b12, and up her protein a fraction?

It's only been a month since I got this rooster and his tail grew this much as well as his saddle feathers are coming in fast and his new hackle feathers are coming out black

When they were just old enough to see their freshly built coop @ 4-6 weeks here it took about 3-5 months before they got their true feathers and started laying a egg a day, real soft smooth feathers and super fluffy bottoms. These are Red Stars however 50% RIR and lay and act like them as well.

Well I fed her a feather fixer for a couple of weeks and put some electrolytes and vitamins in her water for a bit. Her back was completely bare and had a huge bite in it. We put 2 of our hens down and the dog killed 3 but I gave her a chance bc she ran into the coop on her own after the massacre. Everything healed up beautiful with a little doctoring from me. Just her tail feathers didn't. This is what her tail currently looks like. I don't think the feathers all fell out they just broke so I'm hoping when she goes into her molt this fall these broken feathers will fall out and new ones will grow in
