My 9 week old pullets are doing really great, and I have started giving them small amounts of a few extras, along with their start/grow feed. So far, they have had hardboiled egg, yogurt, some oatmeal, strawberries, and applesauce. Today, I offered them just a tiny bit of cottage cheese.

My main question is: Do these types of treats require me to also offer them grit?

Also, I offered them some earthworms earlier, they kind of looked at the worms, then back at me like I was crazy. Then they walked away. I'm wondering if they might be more interested in meal worms?

p.s. I'm these concerns were addressed in one of my earlier posts, but I can't find it, so I appologize for any repeat questions;)

Generally speaking if your babies are outside and you have any kind of sand or rocky soil out there they don't need grit. I have one of those feed hoppers that have a space for oyster shell, food and grit so it's there if they feel like they need it even though my chickens are outside in the desert sand most days.

you should be giving grit if they don't have access to the ground. Soft treats like yogurt don't require it but worms definately do. Good Luck
