When do chicks feather out in general? Seems like my last batch feathered out much faster than my current mystery chick and silkies. She has yet to start getting head feathers at 5 weeks.

It depends a lot on breed.

For me I think it depends on the weather. I put mine out as soon as their body is filled out then it seems to be like their heads fill in really quickly just because of weather conditions. (No I do not put my chicks out in freezing cold weather.)
