I get that, mine are awful with it, too. To be honest though, no matter where you have it or what style they'll always be messy. The only thing I'd be worried about with one they can't get into is whether they can get their bills all the way into the water. Even if they don't have access to swimming water for 2 days they still need to submerge their bills- it helps them breathe because their nostrils are clear. What waterer did you have in mind?Ok thank you. Was thinking of making a waterer to where they couldn’t get in-just to be put their heads in. Would that be ok? They just make such a big dang mess with their water bowl.
I figured. It's not the best situation but it will work for the 2 days. For next time I recommend making a covered run that they can have access to 24/7. I have 7 ducks that have access to both an 8x6 coop and a run wrapped with chicken wire even at night.I probably should have mentioned that they are full grown ducks and geese.
My husband and I actually talked about doing that-making a covered run over their coop. Just don’t know if we will have time. That is a good idea!I get that, mine are awful with it, too. It really does wonders. It takes certain stresses involved away, including some of these. I also buried a small pond into the ground which makes it a lot easier to provide water - I only have to refill their bucket waterer once a week.My husband and I actually talked about doing that-making a covered run over their coop.
