When/how to Collect duck eggs?

Hey, i have a few muscovy ducks, how is it best to collect their eggs?
I was collecting daily but then they seem to try escape the pen and start laying else where. So i started leaving an egg so they keep laying which worked but then they stoped laying after a week ish. And didnt start again for about another week.

Muscovys are different, the want to lay so that they can set them. If you take them they will lay in a different spot or stop laying, which you have already found out. The best way is to give them 2-3 ceramic eggs for dummy eggs. Once they've accepted them take their eggs at night, very carefully and quietly.

Got to be the ceramic ones, plastic ones aren't heavy enough and they figure it out. I've even made my own. Take a couple duck eggs, drill holes in both ends, blow the egg out, fill with plaster, break shell off. And there you have it. . . Fake duck nesting eggs.

You can also buy ceramic eggs on line I bought mine at Premier Poultry 1. They even fake out Muscovy's.
