when is a chicken to old for showing

I am going to buy a few silkies that have won several shows and I was wondering if there is a limit on how many shows a chicken can win?
Or if a chicken is ever to old to be shown
I would also like to know at what age does a silkie stop laying or is no longer fertile

You can show them at any point until they drop dead. Thing is, only you will be able to tell when they are a in good, healthy condition. I prefer to show my birds from 9 months old to whenever they start looking like they're on a downhill slope. I had one male that was 8 years old before I sold him to another breeder. I had used him for breeding as much as I wanted and he needed time to just be a chicken.

A bird is too old to be shown when the feathers lose their shine. Mind you, this happens before a molt as well, but the older a bird gets, the less they preen and the more unkempt they are going to look.

As for the silkies....no idea. I'm still waiting on eggs to start with my Mexican Mafia silkies.
